  • Period in time where monarchy started to fall to people’s revolutions, which inspired artistic minds all over the world
  • a time of clashing points of interest and philosophies, where the fittest one survives
  • is mainly characterized by a reaction against the Neoclassicism and Enlightenment with an emphasis on order, reason, and imagination of the human society

The Individual

  • Romanticism is more concerned with the individual than the social society
  • The human consciousness and especially the human imagination are very intriguing for Romantics
  • The idea of “melancholy” was the trigger word for Romantics, which sought to alter a person’s conscious state in order to enhance ones potential
